Still Photos

Specializing in Film/Video transfer of 8mm and S-8mm Home Movies and Family Video to DVD Discs and Digital Video. Hi-8mm and 8mm analog video tapes to DVD discs are also our specialty.

Single 35MM slides, film negatives and photos can be either captured by video or can be scanned directly into a PC. This is used today by many people for all types of desktop publishing. However, we have a special process of capturing single 8MM or 16MM frames from movie film. We don't cut and re-splice the film or in any way burn or hurt the film.

Below are several examples of special stills from 8MM family film. The photo quality may leave sometime to be desired but the family memories are priceless. Many times photos and film negatives of special family events are lost. We are then left with only grandpa's old home movie recordings of these events.

Please note: The graininess of old home movie film is normal. By today's standards the film was very slow and the lens settings did not allow for much light.

Our process of capturing still images from 8mm or S8mm movies is to zero in on the actual frame while the Goko projector is stopped and capture to DV video. Our process of capturing 16MM movie frames is to use a special projector that stops the movie on the frame we need and capture to DV video. The actual quality of kodak consumer movie film leaves much to be desired by professional photographers. Generally the film is slow, lighting is poor and the image is very small. However, with 16/18 frames per second to choose from, we can usually find one frame of capture quality. If you were to try to capture a moving photo either from the movies or from video, the results will always be blurred.

Our process gives you:

  • Solid focus on the one image to capture.
  • No damage to old film.
  • Images can be as large or as small as needed
  • Minor editing with Adobe Photoshop to enhance the color balance.
  • Images can be printed or added to documents
  • A digital file on floppy disc (PC) for your usage
  • One 4x6 glossy print from HP Photo Printer
